Jamie Foxx plays Ray Charles in the semi-biographical film "Ray." This movie details the life of the great American musician Ray Charles from early childhood to his eventual death. Ray encounters many challenges due to an illness which leaves him blind. Furthermore, the piano master suffers through many other personal tragedies beyond being blinded, including the tragic accidental death of his brother. Several incidents of managers, agents, or friends trying to cheat or steal from Charles are detailed. In an early gig in New Orleans, he learns that the club operator has been cheating him. Ray stands up for his principles and refuses to work with such people. Later, his manager Joe Adams also cheats him. These types of struggles are continual throughout the movie. The other major challenge Charles faces is his addiction to heroin.
