Slacker extraordinaire ‘The Dude’ Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) is a man of simple pleasures: beer, bowling, the occasional joint and a rug in his living room that really ties the room together. But when a squad of nihilist thugs invade his home, threaten his person and urinate on his rug, he finds himself wrapped up in a squalid tale of greed, lies, sex and mystery, not to mention a rich old miser who shares his name if not his outlook on life, and charges him with a dangerous mission. With the help, or perhaps hindrance, of his violent friend Walter (John Goodman) and his soft-spoken bowling buddy Donny (Steve Buscemi), the Dude… well, the Dude abides.
