He appeals to devoted wife Carol (Kim Basinger) to talk to crime kingpin Jack Benyon (James Woods) to get him out. in exchange, Doc will help with a big robbery. He does not realize what it will end up costing him. The robbery is part of double cross that sends Doc and Carol on the run with the loot and a posse of people after them. That posse includes the police, a sadistic partner in crime(Michael Madsen) and his thrill-seeking moll (Jennifer Connelly) and assassins sent by Benyon (assassin in charge played by David Morse).
